The Final Set - "NOT YET FINAL"
As I was reading a very detailed blog from Pinoy Rock Central nagbabalik ako sa huling indayog ng Eheads. Sayang pero kailangan tangapin. Lahat ay may katapusan. Like what happen to FrancisM, but the good thing is they leave a special and wonderful things here.
At around 5PM ay nasa MOA na ako dahil super excited for The Final Set. Suot ang binili kong shirt from Street Cred. Mineet ko sina Andro, Ricca and Jenny sa Starbucks (in front of MOA) and supposed to be antayin si OD pero patay ang phone kaya dumiretso na kami sa concert venue. Dahil sabi ko dami nang tao at baka mawalan ng pwesto. While we were on the line. Bigla na lang sumulpot si OD. Silver A po pala ang ticket namin... Mas malapit ang kita unlike dun sa "The Reunion". Naghanap kami ng pwesto at napadpad kami sa gutter. Mas ok yung view kasi elevated. Maaga pa kaya kumain muna para handa na sa concert. Bawal ang SLR kaya walng dala kundi ang lente ng cellphone ko... Hehe! Sa loob na rin namin na meet si Fred and Junie.
At exactly 8:00PM lumabas na ang mga VJ ng MTV. Sigawan na ang mga tao at maya maya pa ay countdown na.. inde na numbers instead letters from Z to E-heads. A documentary was shown on the projector. It take fo around 15-20 mins. At first I was catching the video and scenery and taking a few shots from my phone. Pero di ganung kaganda quality and na feel ko na hinde ko ma-eenjoy masyado ang concert. So I decide to just keep my phone and just jive to the music and be just a Fan of Eraserheads. Hopefully mag-release din ng DVD. hehe! Ang saya sobra... They play as the real Eraserheads. The Final Set was very different from the The Reunion Concert where in they just become the old Eraserheads nung una pa silang tumutugtog yung UP days pa nila. Nagmistulang jammin' ang dating.. Masang-masa at feel na feel mong your at home with their music. Nandong may nagkakamali ng pasok.. Nandong pipiyok si Ely pero inde pinapansin ng tao. Dahil sila yun. Yun yung Eraserheads e.
The 1st Set was a bit of experiment. Markus sung like what he play and sung for his band Markus Highway. Raimund give his energy as he perform from Sandwich. Buddy just keep his seriousness as he plays his bass. And Ely play a different performance. Dun ko nakita si Ely na hinde gaanong seryoso... Where in you hear his voice with happiness and fulfill. Iba talaga...
Sa Final Set it was an unplugged version parang jamming lang sa bahay... Saya parang nikikikanta alng yung buong crowd sa kanila. Some of the audience are not that avid fan of Eheads, because they won't able to sing some of the song that are not usually played on the radio... Hehe! They play the Alapaap as a relax version. Parang talagang pagpapaalam na. Also from the final set they gave a tribute to the Free Man - FrancisM that is now a truly Free Man. Tumayo yung balahibo ko nung kinanta nila yung Kaleidoscope World. I feel Kiko is there and smiling and happy that everyone will continue his Happy Battle. After that they play their winning piece "Huling El Bimbo" talagang huling saliw na ng musika ng Eraserheads.
Nang matapos na ang tugtugan. Dahan-dahan nang nagsi-alis ang mga tao sumabay na rin kami. Nang malapit na kami sa labasan ay may narinig kaming nagsalita sa mic. What I remember is someone is calling Ely back from stage. At first kala ko sa Markus. Si Raimund pala. Pinabalik nya sila Ely, Buddy and Markus sa stage. Shit... Its NOT YET THE FINAL SET... Ely said that they will be playing 3 more songs. Kasi yung mga yun yung mga kinanta na nial sa Reunion. Siguro kaya rin nila ginawa yun is just simply tell us that they are very thankful to the fans. They played Ligaya, Sembreak and Toyang. Nagkamali pa nga si Ely sa Sembreak ... hehe! First time ko nakita si Ely na kumamay sa mga tao para kumamay... Mala Gary V. yung pagbaba nya ng stage and nakangiting kinamayan yung mga fans sa baba ng stage. Kakaibang Ely talaga yung nakita ko sa concert na to. We'll very fulfilling talaga. May be that would be the last time we will see them on stage together and performing as the Eraserheads. But their music will stay alive and will continue to inspire our lives.
